A Gift That Keeps on Giving
As a small business owner
since 1996, having the right resources at the right time has been instrumental
to the success of my company, Transfers of Learning (ToL).
I have found myself saying I wish I had known about the valuable
resources at the KUSBDC back in 1995-1996 when I was planning and launching my
company, but unfortunately that was not the case.
Despite that fact, I was fortunate to become aware of their services and
resources later in my company’s lifecycle.
For me, the KUSBDC has been a gift that keeps on giving. Having been referred to the KUSBDC at a conference that I attended, I was told they could help us navigate through the realm of State and Federal Contracting. We were put in contact with George Boehm, the Government Contracting Specialist in Exton who has been a tremendous support and advocate for ToL since our initial consultation.
George took the time to sit down with us and truly understand our organization, our services and what we have to offer. He provided us with so much information and direction to resources to begin navigating the State and Federal Marketplace. In addition, to the wealth of knowledge we have received in this area, George has been an ongoing sounding board for growth and development of ToL.
When faced with a resource issue in relation to a high volume contract, George provided numerous referrals to individuals and other small businesses that could support us. What more could we ask for? These resources were clients of the KUSBDC, so in a sense our initial screening had already been completed.
In addition to the wealth of knowledge that the consulting services at KUSBDC have provided us, our relationship has opened up new access and networking opportunities within the local community. As a result of the experiences we’ve had with the KUSBDC, we now feel more connected to the people and resources available in our own back yard. I have had the privilege to meet some phenomenal individuals who are committed to the growth and development of small businesses right here in Chester County. That’s exciting!
As small business owners I believe community involvement and service are wonderful opportunities to give back and grow our local economies. Our affiliation with the KUSBDC has provided us additional opportunities to do just that. Like I said, it’s been the gift that keeps on giving! Thanks KUSBDC!
