Cash Flow is King
.
Most small firms at one point in time experience a cash flow problem. A recent survey of small firms in our region by the Kutztown University SBDC found that the top three internal factors affecting their firms ability to grow included: 1) finding new customers 2) maintaining internal cost controls and 3) meeting market prices. Each of these factors impacts your cash flow.

The first step in analyzing your cash flow is to prepare a projected expense and revenue projection for the upcoming year. This will force you to project your anticipated purchases of new assets, anticipated liquidation of old assets, anticipated cash inflows and anticipated recurring expenses.

I'm sure many of you remember the energy conservation cries of the not too distant past. Things like lowering your thermostat to 68° F and dimming or turning off lights.
