Are you a tech-saavy business owner looking for more resources at your fingertips? Download the SBA app on your smart phone today. The description from the SBA says:

"The mobile app will help users connect with SBA district office staff and SBA-affiliated counselors and mentors who can provide free, personalized small business assistance. The user-friendly format of the app will help answer questions such as: How do I start a business? Where can I go in my area to get free help with writing a business plan? And where do I begin finding funding for my business?
The SBA mobile app also features a built-in startup cost calculator to help estimate the costs associated with getting a business off the ground, plus an SBA partner locator to help users find SBA offices, Small Business Development Centers, Women's Business Centers and SCORE."

If this free app sounds like something your business could benefit from, we recommend you download it!

The City of Reading has been hit particularly hard by the recession. In 2009 it entered ACT 47, and it has one of the highest urban poverty levels in the entire United States. A new economic development strategy is urgently needed if the city is going to make a strong comeback. At the KU SBDC we believe that locally-grown small businesses have an essential role to play in turning around Reading.

The next step in our continued support of local entrepreneurs is the launch of the Jump Start Incubator (JSI). JSI is a collaboration between the KU SBDC and the Berks County Community Foundation. We provide a temporary home for start-up businesses, along with the intellectual, monetary, and leadership capital that they need to become self-sufficient and reach their potential. After incubation, firms are expected to transition out into Reading and Berks County, where they will spur economic development, create new jobs, and increase the tax base in the city. JSI helps entrepreneurs succeed through training, coaching, mentoring, networking and access to service providers. Entrepreneurs can choose to work out of our headquarters in the Berks County Community Foundation's LEEDŽ Platinum Green Building.

Please join us at our information sessions on Monday, December 12, 6-8 pm and Tuesday, December 13, 9-11 am at the JSI facilities, located in the Berks County Community Foundation Building, 237 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601.
