  • Comfy Cozy, inc, and Glowfx designs Two companies with "glowing" futures-By Chrystal Coffelt

    In 1989, Peggy Vincent hand painted Glow in the Dark pillowcases for her 10 nieces and nephews as Christmas gifts. Theses pillow cases were a big hit among the children, and even helped some of them conquer their fear of the dark. For the next few years she continued to design and paint pillow cases when she wasn't at her "day" job.

    Peggy decided to leave the corporate world behind in 1994 to pursue her dream of starting her own business and founded Comfy Cozy,inc. A graduate from the University of Tennessee with a Degree in Merchandising, her career as a Buyer for Dillard Department Stores and National Sales Manager for Wee Ones, Inc. girls accessories, had laid the foundation for her desire to be an entrepreneur in the children's industry.

    First Step Workshop for Hispanic Entrepreneurs

    On November 1st, the Latino Business Resource Center, of the Kutztown Small Business Development Center, and the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce delivered the first bilingual workshop for potential Latino entrepreneurs in Berks County in the city of Reading. In attendance were 25 participants, along with representatives from Community First Fund. The purpose of this workshop was to introduce the basic concepts of business management for Latino entrepreneurs who want to achieve success in the American Market.

    9 Week Veterans Program

    Veteran Business Skills for Success is a 9 Week Program located at the Chester County Economic Development Center in Exton, Pa. This informative and interactive program teaches the proper procedures for testing the feasibility of a new venture idea or to help an existing business grow. They help the Veteran entrepreneur realize their possibility of becoming a profitable venture. This program starts in mid January and takes place every Wednesday from 6:30-9:00pm for 9 weeks. The cost of the 9 week program is $495 and Veterans are eligible for reimbursement.
