Prospecting for new business these days has become quite challenging. There are signs everywhere: "No Soliciting" "No Salespeople". Add to that growing restrictions on emailing, faxing, telephone solicitations, and sales representatives & entrepreneurs face tough obstacles in gaining new business. But, are you sure you really need new customers or, possibly, do you need to dig deeper and more effectively with your existing accounts?

Twenty Questions for Business Growth by Dan Goldberg
    .

The old game of twenty questions has new meaning when it comes to business.

How often have you heard that someone is having trouble starting their business, or struggling to take it to the next level or even closing their business because of what seems to be a number of common and evident problems? Most of these problems, more than likely, could have been alleviated if only the entrepreneur or management team would have taken the time to view their situation realistically before acting.

Communication: Getting Your Message Across by Linda S. Eck Mills
    .

Every day of your life you communicate. Yet, how many times is your message understood as you meant it to be?

When I think of communications, an image of the three monkeys comes to mind: see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. Communication includes what we see, hear, and speak.

Communication is defined as the process where one person transfers meaning to another person. Some people do this better in writing; others do it better by speaking. But either way, the components of communication are the same: sender, message, and receiver. The sender has an idea to share with someone. The message, which can be verbal or written, is what the sender wants someone else to know. The receiver is the person for which the message was meant.

Kutztown SBDC reaches out to Hispanic Entrepreneurs

KUSBDC held a special Starting and Growing a Business in Pennsylvania class last week in Kennett Square. KU Professor Carlos Ojeda (pictured above) taught the class in Spanish to 20 Hispanic entrepreneurs. Several in attendance were already established in business and everyone expressed a desire to enroll in a 12 week entrepreneurial development class that will start on July 13. This customized program is made possible through special funding from the Kennett Square Borough Council, The Chester County Commissioners, the Chester County Development Corporation and special funding through Senator Pileggi's office and State Representative Chris Ross. KUSBDC is very appreciative of the sponsors support for this special initiative to an under served market.
