"Entrepreneurs don't sit on their haunches,
waiting for something to happen. They make things
happen. "
- Victor Kiam
Consider this: Never say never to an idea.
What is it that you have been mulling over, thinking
about doing, but have not had the courage to attempt?
| Art, Spirit, Life - John Hannafin's Success Story - by Dawn Wivell |
 |
Although John Hannafin, ArtPassionista, never took
a formal painting class and never thought he had it in
him to become an entrepreneur, a series of events
guided him into starting his own art business.
Hannafin has been drawing all his life, but when a
back operation had him laid up, his mother bought him
painting supplies and his art expanded. He learned how
art has a subconscious effect on the health and body
while attending Psychology conferences with his
mother, a psychologist. He became intrigued by human
emotion, and wanted to help and inspire people through
art.
After recuperating from the back surgery, he
continued working in the corporate world until being laid
off in September 2004. A small slip of paper about the
Self Employment Assistance (SEA) program in his
packet of unemployment information gave him his
opportunity. Hannafin began attending SEA classes,
graduating in November 2004.

| Measuring Website Profits When you Don't Sell Online - by Merra Lee Moffit |
 |
If you sell services, how do you measure your
website's contribution to profitability? Even if there is
a 'Buy Now' button, it's seldom used. Typically buying a
service requires detail which can only be answered in a
phone call, a proposal, or a demonstration. Simply
measuring proposals resulting from web generated calls,
emails, or contact forms would severely under count
the sales. Getting an accurate picture takes a little
more work.
Every business person should maintain a contact
database of every one who contacts them, meets
them, or already knows them. Act! is a popular program
for this purpose and can be easily customized to add
referral source fields. I've added a field called "Ref
Source:" which I fill with "WEB" for everyone coming
from the web. I've added another field called "Ref
Detail:" filled with "Call In," "Contact Form," "Newsletter
Sign up," "Email," or whatever path brought them to my
attention. Everyone who phones me is asked how they
heard of me, so I can distinguish web leads from
other sources such as referrals,
seminars, networking groups, or other marketing
activities. Their source is marked in the contact
database.

| Get Yourself Going -by Dan Goldberg |

Do you use $50.00 time to work on $10.00 tasks?
Are you overburdened and under stress? Do you tend
to let things go until the last minute?
If you answered yes to any or all of the big three
above, then brother or sister you've got a serious
schedule management problem.
What's your time worth? How much of this non-
renewable resource are you wasting? Why can't you
get things in order and done?
Focus, focus, focus, should be the businesspersons'
mantra just like, "Location, location, location" the
famous Albert M. Greenfield quote (yep, that's who said
it, another Philadelphian!), is to Real Estate.

Passion, Education, Practice Equals Success
Have you ever wondered why things just
didn't turn out the way you though or planned? Not
me! The reason is clear and always the same. One, or
more, of the key ingredients to SUCCESS: PASSION
plus EDUCATION plus PRACTICE were missing,
completely or partially. Take, for example, the
child who watches his sister ride a bicycle and desires
to do the same. He jumps onto her bike, goes three
feet, if lucky, and falls. It is pretty clear that both
education and practice were missing. Well, with
passion still in his heart, he enlists his sister or parent
to teach and help him practice so that one day he will
ride, hands free. This, of course, happens only when
committed - to the highest degree - until he reaches
his success. In business we face the same
challenges, everyday. And, do you have the passion to
learn and develop yourself before you engage? When
you do, success comes frequently and inner happiness
and confidence abounds.
