Odds of Disability are High, Odds of Being Insured for It are Low

Contributed by Michael Fischer,CLU, ChFC

The chance of being disabled for at least six months sometime during you career for a person under age 35 are one in three, according to National Underwriter ("Why Disability" April 2005).

Yet fewer than a third of employees have insurance to replace their income in case they suffer from a long-term disability, according to the American Council of Life Insurers (2005 Life Insurers Fact Book).

In many cases, it may be advisable to supplement group coverage with an individual policy.

Effective Sales Management Techniques

A few important steps can keep a sales manager focused and his or her team accountable.

An effective sales manager realizes that a person's behavior is the key to success.  How a salesperson behaves towards his or her responsibilities has a direct link to results.  The individual who constantly complains about the state of the market, lack of leads and referrals, inability to get to the decision maker, etc. is usually better at making excuses than making sales.

The quandary for the sales manager is- how long should he or she put up with ineffective behavior?

New ContributorWhy Life Insurance?

By Kathi Kuzo, Financial Representative

Life Insurance is the foundation of financial security for you and your family.  Life insurance helps to ensure that your family and loved ones are protected against financial difficulties in the event of a premature death.  Combined with investments, retirement and estate planning, life insurance is to provide cash to your family after you die.

The concept of life insurance is simple: you pay regular premiums over the term of the policy and if you die before the term ends, the insurance company pays a specified amount of money, called the death benefit, to your beneficiaries.  There are two primary types of life insurance: term and cash value.
