PaDEP will present information on what types of waste
can go into a dumpster and how to dispose of wastes

The 9th Annual SBDC Client Exposition
The 9th Annual SBDC Client Exposition will be held
on April 29, 2003 at the East Wing Rotunda-Capitol
Building, Harrisburg.
KUSBDC clients attending the expo include: Energy
Sentry Solutions (Paoli), KFJ Enterprises (Harrisburg),
Paramount Independent Living Aids (Fleetwood), Patriot
K-9 Services, LLC (Harrisburg), Stonehedge Farms
(York County), and Wellhaven Helpful Gifts for Seniors

Innovation Partnership
The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers
(SBDC) announced yesterday that in conjunction with
seven other economic development organizations they
are forming the Innovation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
The Innovation Partnership is a statewide program that
will help small businesses commercialize their
technologies and will provide financial assistance to
help
increase the number of Small Business Innovation
Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology
Transfer (STTR) grants awarded to Pennsylvania
companies.

Everywhere we turn today, we are being
told, "diversify, diversify, diversify". Financial
advisors tell clients to diversify stock portfolios and
investments. Companies are being told to diversify
product lines and markets. This advice is easy to
give, but hard to execute. Many companies have
been in business for 20 plus years and have had many
of the same clients -- until now. Now, many have
fewer clients placing smaller orders. So, what could
these companies have done differently to diversify their
markets? One answer is government contracting.

The KUSBDC Advisory Board met recently to discuss
the
strategic priorities for the KUSBDC for this year and to
learn about the program results from 2002.
The KUSBDC Advisory Board provides input to the
KUSBDC Leadership Team on issues related to
programming, advocacy and legislative relations.
Congratulations to Pedro Cortés, KUSBDC
Advisory Board Member, on his recent appointment as
acting Secretary of State for the Commonwealth by
Governor Rendell.
