Success in international trade requires preparation and planning. For companies in our service region of Pennsylvania, we created the following international trade tools to assist in preparing you to enter overseas markets and for an initial consultation with a trade specialist of the Kutztown University Small Business Development Center.
The International Trade Guide is a concise, practical outline of essential trade concepts. Organized in four segments, the guide offers new and potential entrants to trade an opportunity to assess your likely success in overseas sales, key marketing concepts, finance and risk mitigation techniques and the basics of product transport. In addition the guide offers four checklists (overall, financial, marketing and logistics) to help guide the reader preparing for a meeting with a trade service provider. Companies interested in meeting with an international trade specialist should answer the questions on the last page prior to an initial meeting, resulting in a more productive session for the client. The result of this preparation is a faster launch of your international business with a greater likelihood of success.

The four training modules, highlighted below, mirror the information in the International Trade Guide in a more condensed, outline format. The slides follow a logical progression to build a basic knowledge of trade fundamentals with the same goal of providing background knowledge for new to export companies.
