Small Business Primer

SBA: This is a self-paced, online small business primer course. The course is designed to assist individuals who are thinking about starting a small business or who are in the early stages of running a business. The course has three primary objectives:

Help determine your readiness for starting a small business.
Provide an overview of small business principals.
Introduce you to key SBA resources.

Upon registration, you will be directed to the SBA Website and a secondary registration page. We ask that you take the extra minute to complete the second registration so that the SBA can develop and provide more free training of this type in the future.

Online Tutorial for Starting a Business

PA SBDC: The Starting a Business Online Tutorial will walk you through several key areas that you need to fully understand in order to successfully manage a small business. The tutorial is comprehensive and will require some time investment, but you may complete it at your own pace. With a separate registration, you will be able to save your progress and generate a copy of your work file.

Finding and Attracting Investors

SMALLBIZU: The course presents practical tactics on how to identify and secure different types of capital including seed capital, angel capital, and venture capital. The process used by different kinds of investors is presented and the tools for completing the fund-raising process are presented. Special focus is given to the federal and state laws that govern the capital and securities process.

If you do not understand how to find and present to potential investors, this course is for you.
